Sixth Grade

In sixth grade theatre, students are introduced to the basics of acting, improvisation, and scriptwriting. They learn foundational acting techniques, character development, and presentation skills. Students practice using non-verbal communication, understanding character motivation, and identifying character relationships. Seventh Grade

Seventh-grade theatre builds on foundational skills with a focus on sensory and emotional experiences. Students work on vocal and movement techniques, technical theatre elements like lighting and staging, and participate in local school productions. They develop skills in scriptwriting, character analysis, and collaborative performance. Emphasis is placed on critiquing performances, exploring theatre’s impact on culture, and understanding various theatre careers.

Eighth Grade

Eighth-grade theatre emphasizes advanced ensemble skills through activities like pantomime, improvisation, and acting. Students design and create scenery, costumes, props, lighting, and sound, often incorporating research. They explore scriptwriting by creating original scripts and adapting literature. The course covers the importance of audience engagement, the use of dramatic criticism, and examining the historical and cultural influence of theatre.
