Student Council

The student council will work collaboratively with the school administration to create positive opportunities to involve all students at Booth. The student council will determine upcoming activities and events.

Service Projects - Each semester, the student council will plan and organize a school-wide service project that supports our local community.

Ambassadors - Our student council members will act as ambassadors for Booth Middle School during school functions in which the community is invited into our building.  Student council members will also act as guides for new students to Booth Middle School.

Events - Student council will assist with and plan school events. (Events to be determined later.)

Fundraise - Student council will hold 2 fundraisers per year, one each semester.  Money raised will be used to purchase supplies needed for events and activities.

Student council members will serve for a minimum of one year.  Students who have been voted in, and wish to continue, will remain on the council for the next year. 

Meetings will be held 2 times a month.  Meetings will start at 7:25.  Students must attend bimonthly meetings to remain in good standing as a council member.

Students are expected to assist with all activities, fundraisers, and service projects.

*Students will be allowed to use student council hours as part of Beta Club hours as well.

The council will consist of the following:

• Four 6th grade representatives (does not have to be one from each team)
• Six 7th grade representatives 
• Eight 8th grade representatives

The council members will vote on the following roles - President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Only 8th grade representatives will be eligible for elected positions.

• November 14 - Applications available.
• November 21 - All applications due. 
• December 1-4 - Teacher recommendations and parent signatures collected. 
• December 5 - Students will be notified through their school email if they are eligible to run for Student Council.
• December 8-12 - Students prepare campaigning material.  All posters need to be approved by the advisors by December 12.
  • Candidates can create 1 poster, 24x36 inches, to be hung in the cafeteria. Students can create up to 10 flyers, 8x11 ½ inches to be hung on their hallway. Once posters and flyers are approved, candidates can hang the items up.

Stickers, buttons, voting incentives, and social media campaigns are not permitted and will result in immediate disqualification from running.

• December 17 & 18 - Student Council voting during homerooms
• December 19 - Grade Level Representatives announced

January - 1st meeting (day of the week to be determined)

All of the following items must be completed and submitted by November 21st.  No incomplete or late applications will be accepted.

Student Applicants must sign into their FCBOE accounts to complete the application.

Requirements

• Students must currently have & maintain a 72% in each of the core subject areas.
• Students must have good standing behavior - no ISS or OSS.
• Students must have regular school attendance.  
• Students must attend 90% of the student council meetings.
• Students must have 2 teacher recommendations from current teachers.
• Students must complete the online application.
• Students must provide a parent email address for parent agreement.
